Please note that the pool is available for swims by appointment only.
The benefits of swimming in
warm water are well documented and are very beneficial to dogs to
build and maintain a very high level of fitness and well being, for
owners of working/show dogs swimming as an exercise is surpassed.
Of course the service we offer
extends beyond helping able-bodied dogs to achieve peak fitness. As
swimming is performed in a near weightless environment it is the
ideal form of gentle exercise to help dogs with certain injuries and
ailments to gain more strength and mobility to aid them to lead as
normal life as possible. Dogs recovering from strains, surgery,
spinal injuries, hip dysplasia and many other ailments may find
swimming in the correct environment a healthy and gentle way of
rebuilding fitness.
We have invested in the latest
state of the art equipment, which is a fully heated pool complete
with two anti swim jets which can be adjusted to provide a gentle
current for the dog to swim against, up to rapid white water for the
fitter dog.
A non-slip ramp is provided for
entry into the pool with buoyancy aids to keep the dog in the
correct position whilst swimming. A purpose made dryer is also
available to owners who wish their dog to be dried in this way (see
fees).
We have twenty years experience of
owning, training, boarding, exercising and caring for dogs.

Fees
Fees are per session, the length of the session is determined by the
dogs fitness level/ailment and can be little as two minutes to as
long as thirty minutes. The dogs are closely monitored whilst
swimming to ensure enough exercise is obtained without over exerting
the dog.
An average session for a reasonably fit dog would be approximately
ten minutes. It is recommended that after a trial session should you
wish your dog to swim that a course of sessions are booked rather
than booking one individual session.
One Trial Session £15.00
Five Sessions £60.00
Ten Sessions £100.00
Drying Time (10 minutes if required) Free Of Charge
Dogs should not be
fed before swimming and should be exercised to avoid accidents.
Your dog will most certainly appreciate your presence and
encouragement whilst swimming, some splashing will occur, so please
dress accordingly.
Whilst every care and attention will be given to all dogs at
Shincliffe Mill Hydrotherapy Pool, we cannot be held responsible for
injury, disablement, or death from illness or any other cause. Dogs
swim entirely at owners risk.
Some dogs are natural swimmers and need little or no encouragement
to enjoy a swim, of course not all dogs are the same, some will be
nervous at first but you can be assured that we will take all the
time necessary to help your dog as much as possible to feel at ease
during their visit.
